It is our mission to provide collaboration and direction to the Hennepin County Fire Chiefs, along with their key personnel, our mutual aid partners, and the various organizations which supports the fire service. We support our vision through education, information, services, and representation with the goal of enhancing our capabilities and professionalism.
About the Association
The Hennepin County Fire Chiefs Association (HCFCA) was founded in 1961 to strengthen cooperation among fire departments serving Hennepin County. Today, the Association provides a forum for fire service leaders to exchange ideas, address shared challenges, support regional training and resources, and work together to improve fire and emergency response throughout the county.
HCFCA supports countywide cooperation through mutual aid, regional planning, shared resources, and coordinated response practices. These partnerships allow departments of all sizes to assist one another during significant incidents and help strengthen emergency response throughout Hennepin County.
HCFCA carries out much of its work through its Board, committees, specialized teams, and shared regional resources. These efforts support operational coordination, training, fire investigation, firefighter rehabilitation, and other priorities that benefit from cooperation across departments.

HCFCA supports several committees, specialized teams, and shared resources that help member departments coordinate operations, develop common practices, and provide regional services.
Joint Operations Committee
Supports regional operational coordination, mutual aid, communications practices, resource sharing, and planning for incidents involving multiple departments.
SOP Committee
Supports the development and maintenance of shared operating guidance intended to improve consistency and coordination among HCFCA member departments.
Fire Investigation Team
Provides multi-agency fire investigation resources, origin-and-cause assistance, specialized expertise, and training to fire departments throughout Hennepin County.
Life Safety Units
Provides regional resources that support firefighter rehabilitation and incident operations during significant or extended emergency responses.
